Would you believe it when I say the first Final Fantasy title was released in 1987? Well, I guess that silly opening won’t work if you’re a fan of the beloved Final Fantasy franchise, but what’s coming next will definitely get you hyped up!

As you probably know (or ICYMI), the revered MMORPG game from Square Enix is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary and joining the commemoration of such a wonderful occasion is UNIQLO, which has prepared something special for fans to geek out and collect! The international fast-fashion retail brand has incorporated the globally acclaimed franchise into its themed graphic tees and recently revealed 16 uniquely designed Final Fantasy T-shirts under its UT Collection! Yes, not just one, but 16 limited edition tees – one for every title, starting from the early days of Final Fantasy I to the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI! How cool is that? I know you’re excited, so I won’t be keeping you long! Here’s a sneak peek of the burst of nostalgia that UNIQLO has in store for us fans to wear our fandom not just with pride but also with style.

Final Fantasy I UT



Going all 8-bitty, UNIQLO pours a hint of “just like the old times” vibe and goes back to where it all began with a graphic T-shirt that pays homage to the first installment of the series. As simple as the original game itself, this UT design features the Black Mage, one of the classes in-game, and a part of a quote from the Final Fantasy I’s opening scene that will surely bring back memories to OG and loyal players.

Final Fantasy III UT

   

Paying tribute to the installment that basically laid the foundation for Final Fantasy’s defining and most well-known systems and mechanics, such as the job system and the ability to summon creatures that we’ve all come to really love in later entries, UNIQLO presents a graphic tee featuring the crystal of light on the front in 8-bit fashion and the nostalgic sprites for the game’s character classes at the back.

Final Fantasy VI UT



Final Fantasy VI is the last 16-bit mainline entry, and it’s the installment that ushered in the beauty of steampunk and fantasy together. There’s seriously a bunch of awesome stuff in this title! With its unique steampunk style, amazing (and large) cast, complex narratives, robust customization features, and the many memorable moments and iconic scenes it has, many have considered it one of the best titles in the series. Some even see it as one of the finest RPGs ever released! Truly a fan favorite, a merch featuring the title is something a Final Fantasy fan would definitely not want to miss.

For this title, UNIQLO kept it simple and sentimental with a scene from the famous tone-setting intro sequence of the installment atop the Japanese names of the protagonists on the front. Nostalgia, here we come!

Final Fantasy IX UT



With the Final Fantasy IX UT, you definitely won’t go wrong, just like how the game basically did everything right with the throwback vibes it gave off through its crystals and medieval fantasy world reminiscent of the series’ earlier titles. As the game dons a medieval-style setting, making it a fun trip down memory lane for fans of the older series entries, UNIQLO went for a scene from Bahamut and Alexander’s pivotal battle in front and some of the lovable main characters of the installment together with Zidane’s famous and righteous quote, “You don’t need a reason to help people,” at the back.

Offering a pop of color to your wardrobe, UNIQLO made the Final Fantasy IX UT available in blue.

Final Fantasy XIV UT



I know that the Final Fantasy XIV did not really start on the right foot, but this MMO game was one of the most rewarding games to see unfold, considering how it ended up with one of the best Final Fantasy settings ever designed and one of the most interesting and engaging story and lore in terms of MMOs after being reimagined as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. With this in mind, it’s undeniable how loved this entry is, and I think that’s why UNIQLO seemingly put a lot of thought into this. The Final Fantasy XIV UT in white sports a neatly-designed collage of some of the notable members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, which made this UT one of the best of the collection, just like the game title itself.

Final Fantasy XVI UT

There’s still a lot to be left to our respective imaginations when it comes to Final Fantasy XVI since there’s still limited information about it. With this, the Final Fantasy XVI UT may feel underwhelming due to the lack of built-in nostalgia that the 15 others have, but it sure does capture that Final Fantasy vibe.

Featuring hero Clive and his quote about the crystals, “The legacy of the crystals has shaped our history for long enough,” which can be heard in the trailer for the game, this T-shirt is definitely a must-have as preparation for when the actual game drops.
